soundmax driver

i have intel motherboard 865gbf which has soundmax integrated audio. vista is unable to install this device. windows update doesnt even work. what do i do?

Vista loaded its own drivers for Soundmax but there are problems widely reported with Soundmax and onboard sound. In my case I can't access speech recognition and if I click on microphone properties the system crashes. Solution, get a decent sound card and disable onboard sound.

The XP drivers of SoundMAX DOES work on vista Beta 2

Solution intergrated digatel audio
go to device manger, tab by the questionmark multimedia controller, tab reinstall driver, choose search automatically for updated driver software.
It will install itself.

I also have an Intel D865GBF Motherboard with Analog Device audio controller that uses SoundMax drivers. The device manager on my version on build 5472 does not esactly match the metaphor in your description. I cannot tab to Multimedia Media Controller so I selected it. Similiarily there is no "reinstall Driver" but there is a "Update Driver Software". I tried Update Driver Softwarethe but Vista could not locate a compatable driver and reports "Windows could not find driver softare for you device".
Any ideas?

I've since upgraded to Soundblaster but I did get Soundmax to work by going into the program files and right-clicking each Soundmax .exe and clicking "Run as Administrator" also run in XP compatibility mode.

Unfortunately, no Soundmax.exe files exist on my machine. Maybe 'coz I did a "clean" install of Vista??

Device Manager doesn't show any multimedia controller. Only sound, video, and game controllers. Under there, only Soundmax
